Walking Tour

Day 01: Delhi Arrive Delhi. Met upon arrival in Delhi and escorted to your hotel for the stay of two nights.

Day 02: Delhi Delhi is a charming city, which juxtaposes ancient and modern in the same time and space. Full day you will see Delhi in a combined tour – visiting Jama Mosque, Gandhi’s cremation site, Qutab Minar and drive past Government Buildings. Delhi Old Delhi pulses with the energy and colour, the hustle and bustle of thronged bazaars and is laced by a maze of narrow lanes, which twist and turn between tall, leaning houses full of the sights, sounds and aromas of the Indian sub-continent. In Old Delhi you will see the famous Red Fort surrounded by shops, and bazaars (built by the Emperor Shah Jehan - the builder of Taj Mahal), the Jama Masjid mosque with its tapering minarets and wonderful marble domes, Chandni Chowk (Old Delhi's business nerve centre), the hustle-bustle of everyday Indian life all around you and chattering voices.

As a complete contrast, New Delhi stands in formal splendour, like a lone sentry guarding an outpost of a long-gone empire. It is a city of wide boulevards, which offers ever-changing perspectives of Lutyen's landscaped city. It is a city rich with formal parks and you'll see the magnificent Parliament Building and the Rashtrapati Bhawan (the official residence of the President of India in the 330 acres of land and designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens), once the awe-inspiring residence of the British Viceroys and now the Presidential Palace, the Raj Ghat (cremation site of Mahatama Gandhi), India Gate (a majestic 42 mts high arch, built as a memorial to the Indian Soldiers killed in World War I), Qutab Minar (the 72.5 mts high tower dating back to 13th century and one of the greatest bequests of Islamic Culture), Humanyun's Tomb (built in the 16th century and architecturally the fore runner of the Taj Mahal, has Mughal Architecture at its graceful best) and the Birla Mandir (a large Hindu Temple built in 1938).

Walking in IndiaDay 03: Jodhpur Morning you will be escorted to the airport in time to connect your flight to Jodhpur. Met upon arrival in Jodhpur and escorted to your hotel for the stay of one night. Jodhpur Visit the Mehrangarh Fort, founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 when he shifted his capital here from nearby Mandore. There are Palaces, housed within this daunting structure, among them are Moti Mahal and Phool Mahal. Jaswant Thada, constructed out of thin sheets of marble that allow the sun to filter in, was built in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, in 1899.

Day 04: Luni This morning after breakfast, you will be driven a short distance of 30 kilometres till Kankani. From here you will walk a distance of 09 kilometres till Luni. Upon arrival in Luni, check into your hotel for the stay of one night. Afternoon is at leisure to explore the village of Luni on foot.

Day 05: Narlai After breakfast you will be driven a distance of 95 kilometres just 10 kilometres short of Narlai. The rest of 10 kilometres will be covered on foot. Upon arrival in Narlai, check into your hotel for the stay of one night. Afternoon is at leisure to explore Narlai on foot.

Day 06: Deogarh After breakfast you will be driven a distance of 150 kilometres, 12 kilometres short of Deogarh. The rest of 12 kilometres till Deogarh will be covered on foot. Upon arrival in Deogarh, check into your hotel for the stay of 01 night. Rest of the afternoon is at leisure to explore the Deogarh Village on foot.

Day 07: Kumbhalgarh After breakfast drive to Kumbhalgar covering a total distance of 70 Kilometres. Upon arrival in Kumbhalgarh, check into your hotel for the stay of one night. Afternoon enjoy the walking tour of Kumbhalgarh Fort. Kumbhalgarh Kumbhalgarh is perhaps the most majestic of all forts in India. The wall of the fortress stretches some 48 kilometres which makes it the second largest wall in the world. The fort encloses many interesting temples, palaces, gardens and water-storage facilities. The fort is hidden in the Aravali hills and is surrounded by 13 mountain peaks, which keep watch over distant horizons. The climb up the fort is difficult but worth the pains, as one gets some lovely views of surrounding areas from the top of the fort.

Day 08: Udaipur Enjoy a walking tour of the Jain Temples at Ranakpur (25 kilometres). Ranakpur One of the biggest and the most important Jain temples in India, the extremely beautiful Ranakpur complex is well worth a visit. Built in the 15th century, Ranakpur temples are very well preserved and one of the most holy place for Jain pilgrimage. These temples lie in a remote and peaceful valley of the Aravali range. The main temple, dating back to 1439, is called the Chaumukha Temple or the “Four-faced temple” and is dedicated to Adinath — the first of Jain teachers. Beautiful sculpture and grand structures mark the glory of this place. It has 29 halls supported by 1,444 carved pillars, none of which are alike. The play of light and shade on the minutely curved figures leaves a tantalizing effect. The temple was erected on the top of a hill on a raised platform and covered an area of about 4,460 metres. Within the complex are two other Jain temples dedicated to Neminath and Parasnath.

Day 09: Udaipur Udaipur is known as the ‘city of lakes’ and is widely regarded as the most romantic city of India. After an easy morning, today you will be taken on Udaipur city tour – visiting City Palace and Jagdish Temple. The rest of the day may be spent in leisure. Udaipur Udaipur, "city of Lakes" is often referred to as the most romantic city in India. In contrast to some of its desert neighbours it presents an enchanting image of white marble palaces, placid blue lakes and green hills that keep the wilderness at bay. It is an oasis of colour in a stark and arid region. This morning visit the superb Jagdish Temple which is noted for its elephant - motif carving and the grand City Palace which overlooks Pichola Lake.

Day 10: Bijaipur Morning you will be driven to Bijaipur (160 kilometres) visiting the Fort at Chittorgarh enroute. Upon arrival in Bijaipur, check into your hotel for the stay of one night.

Day 11: Kota After breakfast you will be driven a distance of 165 kilometres, 05 kilometres short of Kota. The rest of 05 kilometres will be covered on foot. Upon arrival in Kota, check into your hotel for the stay of one night. Enjoy the sightseeing tour of Kota on foot.

Day 12: Ranthambore After breakfast drive a distance of 148 kilometres, 10 kilometres short of Ranthambore. The rest of 10 kilometres will be covered on foot. Upon arrival in Ranthambore, check into your hotel for the stay of one night. Rest of the day is at leiisure.

Day 14: Jaipur Morning enjoy an excursion to the Amber Fort which is ascended on an elephant back. Afternoon enjoy the sightseeing tour of Jaipur including the visit to the city palace and the observatory. Overnight at the hotel. Amber Fort Amber, built by Man Singh, embodies the Rajput belief that the fort symbolises the strength of the King. Its commanding view, sheer walls and rock face, and the curved route that leads to the palaces within, all point to concern with security and defence. The fort is mirrored in Maota Lake, which stands adjacent to the Dilaram Garden. The private aartments begun by Man Singh in the17th century combine Hindu and Mughal styles and the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors), its walls covered with tiny mirrors, becomes a dazzling fantasy with the light of a single match. Visit the Jag Mandir or the Hall of Victory, glittering with mirrors, Jai Mahal and the Kali Temple.

Jaipur - city sightseeing
Jaipur is blessed with a wealth of wonders. Here you'll see the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) with its incredible facade of balconies and pierced screens, the Jantar Mantar (the Observatory), and the Maharaja's City Palace. Jaipur is a city of pink, and you'll be enchanted by the light playing upon the buildings, creating shadows and highlighting every nuance of the architecture.

Day 15: Agra Morning you will be driven to Agra (230 kilometres, approximately 6 hours driving time) visiting the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri. Upon arrival in Agra, check into your hotel for 01 night.

Fatehpur Sikri
Visit the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri which was built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after fifteen years due to scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, the Tomb of Salim Chishti, the Panch Mahal & the other palaces.

Day 16: Delhi Morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of Agra city including the visit to the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort.

Red Fort
Shah Jehan was imprisoned by his son in the magnificent fort at Agra. Here you’ll see the art and crafting of the white marble that has made the area so famous, the Pearl Mosque, the halls of Public and Private Audience, and finally the tomb of Itmad-ud-daula built by the Empress Noorjehan in the memory of her father.

Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal truly is one of the wonders of the world. The Taj Mahal is a monument of love built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. For twenty-two years 20,000 men labored day and night to build this masterpiece which has held the world awe struck ever since.

Later in the afternoon drive to Delhi International Airport (204 kilometres) in time to board your flight back home. (check in is 3 hours prior to the flight).
